Right guys, due to insurance issues im looking at getting a 605 merc( in a C series), not a 606 unfortunately.

Anyone know a tuning route for these cars?

Remap?
MBC + Gauge?
Max boost on stock turbo?
More Fuel?
Bigger Turbo?
Mechanical fuel pump?
Other things to get some more oomph maybe?

Numbers these things would bring perhaps?

Mods needed for more power such as stronger clutch, gearbox, diff etc?
Head studs or something?

Hit me up peeps!

Hi. What is your power goal? 400hp come pretty easy on that engine.

Well ive got on im keeping an eye on atm. Ive got around £1,700 to spend so i can get a fairly decent one.

Id run it stock for a week or two to get used to the car and listen for any knocks etc.

Anything really i still want to use it as a DD so i dont want it to be like undriveable for daily use. Id be happy with 300+

Don't even think about raising boost with stock turbo.

Under 200hp comes relatively cheap, after that it is about the same cost making between 250hp and 400hp.

If you've got a healthy original turbo engine to start with

-exhaust manifold
-bigger turbo
-3,5" downpipe, 3" exhaust
-decent intercooler and boost piping
-injection pump with 7mm elements, mechanical or electric (latter requires remapping)
-clutch upgrade / auto tranny strengthening

I guess stock exhaust manifold would be good for 300hp but no turbo bolts straight on to it, so need to make an adapter flange + grinding or redo the manifold.

Will the diff / manual tranny cope with that amount of power?

Just out of interest, what kind of mpg or km/l would you expect from a 200bhp OM605 or a 300BHP OM605?? Average speeds about 70-80 mph (100 - 100 kmph).

I am on the verge of installing an OM605 from a 1996 C 250 Turbo Diesel, into a 1972 W114 Mercedes....it would be so nice to find more power with good fuel consumption for a 30,000 mile (50000 km) per year daily driver.

If things look good, I can specify the 3" exhaust now itself.
