I'm one of the posters on that particular thread! (landroversforever on there)

You want an OM648 sump and oil pump from a W211 E Class. Not all OM648 sumps are the rear type, the S class one for example is a front bowl.

The bellhousing pattern isn't quite right at the bottom, but overlaps enough to redrill once you've filled in the thin webs with weld.

I gave up looking for the parts on their own as I was fed up of not getting any replies back from the breakers. I ended up just buying a whole engine from Ebay.

You might think it sounds a little OTT, but in reality, go price the bits through a dealer for brand new parts. You may be pleasantly surprised what a discount you can get if you ask nicely.

I guess in the end it depends what you think that they are worth to you and how badly/quickly you need the parts.  You can always break out the saw and TIG welder and try to modify what you've got
Cheers

My thing about buying new parts is a) they have a 2 year warranty and b) they are BRAND NEW. being genuine, you also can be quite assured it is not a box of PRC made shite with no quality control measures taken in manufacture.

I would buy a new oil pump. It's probably the most important component in the whole engine - since it is the part that keeps everything lubricated properly.

sump? meh - cut n shut, or new... doesn't matter too much, but even new is not really that expensive. You should try pricing a sump for an R107...
