A bit of info on the Land Rover forum ironically... the guy seemed to have done a bit of research.

I'm one of the posters on that particular thread! (landroversforever on there)

You want an OM648 sump and oil pump from a W211 E Class. Not all OM648 sumps are the rear type, the S class one for example is a front bowl.

The bellhousing pattern isn't quite right at the bottom, but overlaps enough to redrill once you've filled in the thin webs with weld.

RE: rear sump for 606 - ross - 08-22-2016

I gave up looking for the parts on their own as I was fed up of not getting any replies back from the breakers. I ended up just buying a whole engine from Ebay.

700 pounds is what he quoted me. I see why guys buy the whole engine.

RE: rear sump for 606 - ross - 08-24-2016

That's about what my local dealer was going to charge me for the bits.

RE: rear sump for 606 - JoeB - 08-24-2016

You might think it sounds a little OTT, but in reality, go price the bits through a dealer for brand new parts. You may be pleasantly surprised what a discount you can get if you ask nicely.

RE: rear sump for 606 - hooblah - 08-25-2016

Lol Luke. He's more expensive than Merc themselves.

RE: rear sump for 606 - Nick S - 08-25-2016

(08-25-2016, 10:06 AM)hooblah Lol Luke. He's more expensive than Merc themselves.

I guess in the end it depends what you think that they are worth to you and how badly/quickly you need the parts.  You can always break out the saw and TIG welder and try to modify what you've got
Cheers
Nick

Hahaha no comment :/

RE: rear sump for 606 - JoeB - 08-27-2016

My thing about buying new parts is a) they have a 2 year warranty and b) they are BRAND NEW. being genuine, you also can be quite assured it is not a box of PRC made shite with no quality control measures taken in manufacture.

I would buy a new oil pump. It's probably the most important component in the whole engine - since it is the part that keeps everything lubricated properly.

sump? meh - cut n shut, or new... doesn't matter too much, but even new is not really that expensive. You should try pricing a sump for an R107...
