Hi there,

Whats the best route to getting abit more power from the om648 cdi? ive currently only got a stage one map, of no idea of the power as she hasnt been on the roller's.

Ive got a Cat back exhaust coming to help it breath a little better but ideally looking at de-catting the system as there are 2 cats one up top and the other undereath unless this is the wrong thing to do of course??

Would love to get her to 300bhp at the flywheel if this achievable?

Any help really apreciated Smile

A slightly bigger turbo would do or an upgrade of yours with a bigger compressor wheel. The stock intercooler was a problem on the W210's , it's really small and the ECU will cut power once intake temperatures exceed 50 degrees celsius. You'll probably need injector upgrades. Don't know much about this, just some basics.
Also you'll need some gauges or a data logger: EGT's, Boost, Intake temps, etc.
You should read this:
http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/show...p?tid=1664

The OM648 you have and the OM613 he has are basically the same engines, injectors, turbo and the EGR valve are supposedly different.

With ref to the Intercooler, i was going to try a w211 e320 v6 cooler as this core is thicker and slightly larger but retains the same diamensions length wise so would be plug n play.

Has anyone done this i wonder??

You need better cooler, little update to turbo and remapping.
~300hp is a peace of cake.

Will 722.6 hold torque associated with 300PS? Anyways I recommend cleaning intake manifold/valves and removing EGR prior to any tuning.. whats the point of chip tune if intake ports are gunged up with black shit. Angel

Ex: 525tds 130kW, C250TD 160kW, E320CDI 200kW, ML400CDI 230kW, A6 R5TDI 130kW
Now: Q7 V8TDI 240kW, 320d 150kW, 335d 210kW

They hold up ok with the e55k and that has 700nms, do you think a e320 cdi running 300hp will be more? Good point on the mani Wink

Not all 722.6 are born equal.. you can have stronger clutches, TC etc. That gearbox has limit of some 1100Nm according to wikipedia, I doubt they made it so tough even with 220CDI engines.. unnecessary cost for manufacturer, there are various input torque models for sure thats why I ask. Somewhere I read it takes 650Nm long term. And since DI diesel produces power down low you can calculate torque with simple equation. I think it will do at least 600Nm at that HP.

.
In the very beginning of boost air hose, between it and turbo, thre is some kind of silencer.
You must remove it, if you some day want +300.
That silencer limits the air and power to ~300hp level.

You need solution like this, or similar.

I would rally like to hear some technician in Borg Warner or Garrett research department to respond to that, I do not trust that sours, it get a little to much they are saying and there is no reference to a research document,

fluid dynamics is a very complicated subject, if you have 15 equations but only 15 variables (navier stokes equations in the turbulent area) they are not easy to solve even if you can simulate it statistic mathematics or use large eddy simulations by CFD simulations, but what do I know...

Thought id share a little update, I fitted a cooler from a e320 cdi w211 3.0v6, the car immediatly felt smoother and had more torque, ive also fitted a new cat back Exhaust which has got rid of the pause i used to get 4th -5th.

Here's what it sounds like lol

No, if have AMG turbine also fitted
Otherways, Yes. Compressor is too efficient to stock turbine. No benefit, just harm.
