Does anyone have a solution to stop the starter heat shield from making that resonating noise? The nailing in #5 makes the sound even worse. Its got all 3 bolts in place and I've tried bending the rear corner to change its shape.

distort / bend / dent it


..or cut in half and glue it back together

I had a good shot at a starter in the JY. You really have to deform the whole thing. Like one big dent in the center.

Or wrap it in some kind of heat resistant tape with a few pieces of rubber betwixt it and the tape.

I've got a bunch of this stuff if you don't want to buy a whole roll.
