Will the om606 head or any other 24valve diesel cylinder head fit the 3.5 litre version of the om603 block?

No the problem is the piston is for 2 valves pr. cylinder and the prechamper is not in the center on the om603
but with custom pistons (89 mm) made for the om606 it should be possible to take the crankshaft from the 603.970 and the conrods use them in a 606 block so you have a 3,5 L engine

or get custom conrods use only the 603 crankshaft in a 606 engine and it will be a 3,3 L engine 87 mm x 92,4 mm but due to the long stroke its not so good for high rpm.
it all depends what you want to build the engine for.

Hmmmm power tools *drooling*

I would like to see how the Direct injection works out. Thats could potentally increase Fuel economy right?

Why not take an 320 cdi engine, and swap out the cdi pump and fit a m-pump....Then you have a direct injected engine to start withSmile

There is a drive for the high pressure pump which is situated on the front of the engine.. so some sort of belt drive would need to be made. Not sure of the benefit of all this work though. 606/605 make lots of reliable power when built correctly.

did anyone ever compare 320cdi rods to om606 rods, they have a lot more torque standard so should be stronger or maybe they are completly different.

i like your thinking EDH.

the CDI rods 611-612-613 is made for a 30 mm piston pin 605-606 turbo is 28 mm and there is 4.3 mm different stroke on the CDI engines so you just dont take them and use in a 605-606

it might be possible to use them with custom pin bushes but i dont think they are that much stronger and who knows if they are the same lenght its possible but is the block height the same on 605-606 and 611-612-613 engines??? i dont know
