om617.952 timing chain tensioner rail replacement - atypicalguy - 06-01-2015

I just put a new head on and am wondering if I can still replace the big curved tensioner rail. Not the little one with the slide hammer pin, but the big one that the spring tensioner pushes on. It is in OK shape but I have a new one and my WIS doesn't go back to 1985 so I don't know if I need to pull the main crank pulley to get at the bolt, and if I do that, I don't know if it will fit through the opening in the head.

Anybody replace that one? Where can I get the workshop instructions?

Thanks,
Karl

Due to overwhelming response, I have obtained the following manual, which I hope will prove useful to others maintaining om617.95 series motors:

Saved. Never know when it'll come in handy, cheers

Between this and epcstartekinfo one cam do a lot of damage on a later 617. I am sure there are similar manuals for the car itself; rear subframe etc would be nice to have for example.

They always got deleted by dickhead so it's nice to see manuals show back up

I thought it was weird they are not in a sticky somewhere, but whatever. Happy if it comes in handy.

Hey maybe you guys can help. On the drivers side of the head in front there are two ports for screw in sensors. I have no idea what they are, as there is another port for the temp gauge sensor at the back of the head, and two sensors on the thermostat also.

I'm looking through a bucket of parts at what might possibly go there, and I have one VDO part and one Bosch part, but both look like temp sensors. I sent it out for rebuild with the sensors in place, so I didn't actually remove them.

The head diagram in the manual shows the two ports, a hose fitting at the back of the head for the heater hose, and a port at the back for the temp gauge sender unit. I haven't found where it shows what screws into these two fittings.
