hx27 turbo - hybridyota - 12-14-2014

Looking for a little help with turbo selection.
Iv got the om617 in my 91 4runner and use it for my wheeler, the stock t3 just spools to slow. Iv searched and read through about million threads and has come down to the hx27 or hx 30 and wondering which one would be better set up for a stock 617

No ones got any experience with the hx27?

I think I might have seen it mentioned in another thread or two maybe, you'll probably get some good responses in a day or two

I have an HX30 on mine but I have 6.5mm elements, I have also had an HE221W which is the Same as the HX27 but with a billet wheel and spools faster. I would go with that over the HX27 or I have also had a master power R444-2 and it spooled way faster than stock and is T3 as well.

Are you using the original T3 based turbo? If so that there is stone age turbo technology. There are many T3 based OEM turbos you could source hat would spool much better and offer the same level of performance or better.

Yes still just using the stock t3, looking for quicker spool up and well something better suited for wheeling. I tryed looking for the he221 but no luck and ones found they were 1100+shipping.
Is there any t3 based turbos you can recommend looking at?
