RE: Fail thread - Silberpfeil - 01-17-2011

(12-19-2010, 10:02 AM)rdirtycar I use similar lines with some success in the past. Usually with women younger than me.

I always liked the clean cut older cabbie I used to work with. His favorite line at 4-8 am in the morning with young (college) girls dressed scantily was:
"are you girls going to work?"

And... (sign of the times) only about one in 5 girls would even have a clue what he meant!!!

Ok...

Unfortunately never got a picture of this but a soft serve ice cream shop locally had this sign.

Jesse- is that the head on your SD? Was it already cracked when you got it?

It looks just like the crack between the valves that all D24s get, but they aren't near a coolant passage.

Yeah it was overheating when I got it and every cylinder is cracked like that. A few even cracked the valve seats. #5 was allowing coolant in when it was warm.

RE: Fail thread - ForcedInduction - 01-26-2011

Look closely, its not connected to anything.

RE: Fail thread - dieselboy - 01-26-2011

Well would you look at that

Wow, it must have taken some serious overheating to crack a cast iron head like that... I'm surprised the bottom end survived.

RE: Fail thread - dieselboy - 01-26-2011

The engine only has ~60k on it. I got it warm 2 times and after the second time it slowly started getting worse on passing coolant. All that was wrong was a bad thermostat. It's got a good one now and a e-fan off a 960 and it's awesome.

My old factory turbo setup is now on my friends 85 wagon. We pulled that fail boat oxidizing catalyst off and scored a non egr exhaust manifold at the jy. The car actually smokes less now. Were were both confused about that one b

RE: Fail thread - ForcedInduction - 01-26-2011

You need to check your injection timing and valve lash, flame out the exhaust is a bad sign.

RE: Fail thread - dieselboy - 01-26-2011

I was thinking timing. I did the valves a few months ago. Im going to check the timing I'm thinking that they might have a odd timing setup on the 85 Cali cars.
That was a throttle blip btw.

RE: Fail thread - Captain America - 01-26-2011

That fire looks cool though!

Even still, I've run both my engines sans manifolds and never seen flame.

RE: Fail thread - DeliveryValve - 02-23-2011

For those who are guilty of driving without a valid license, expired tags, or no insurance in Hawthorn/Inglewood, CA today....

Do you make a left on Crenshaw or keep on going straight on 120th?

.

RE: Fail thread - winmutt - 02-23-2011

Are U turns legal? LOL.

RE: Fail thread - ForcedInduction - 02-23-2011

Gives them probable cause to pull you over.

If your guilty and you make a left onto Crenshaw.... Your screwed! No U-turns there.

Go with the second choice.

RE: Fail thread - 300D50 - 02-23-2011

???! wha?

RE: Fail thread - DeliveryValve - 02-23-2011

(02-23-2011, 06:58 PM)300D50 ???! wha?

The "Fail" here is a sign near an intersection that tells guilty people there is a Driver's license check point if you make a left at the intersection.

By continuing to go straight through the intersection you effectively evade the check point and then you can turn left up at the next street (Prairie) to get where you need to go, and be free and clear. Huh

Delivery, you were driving on the sidewalk or what!?!

On a serious note I would stop at Wendys for some lunch or take off from million-air in my personal jet fuckin plane haha... man I used to work off of El Segundo and Van Ness. How did we not meet up???

RE: Fail thread - dieselboy - 02-24-2011

Yeah it stops at that pin. (park lever)

RE: Fail thread - Captain America - 02-24-2011

I agree with CA, looks like the tranny has been shifted into park before coming to a stop or it was allowed to roll back/forward hard into the lock.

I always cringe when I see someone slam their car into park and the whole weight of the vehicle rolls until the little dog ear (GM trans) catches it... I always use the parking brake.

The one where the crack stops is not the parking arm pivot thats the stop for it when its not engaged.
The big one on the bottom of the pic is the one it pivots on.

No its from to much pressure. I know exactly when the trans split open when it shifted into 3rd gear and it activated that servo for the #3 band and it forced the trans apart.

Ive never banged it into park before. Even when the thing rolls like 3ft before it locks in lol.

If you look at this picture you can see the thin area right behind the pin is where it cracked. it obvious if you hold it in your hands and see it for yourself.

Originally I didn't mean banging into park ... I meant banging through the forward gears Cool

RE: Fail thread - 300D50 - 03-19-2011

Fail = sick since tuesday.

Why can't humans be as dependable as an old Benz?

RE: Fail thread - 300SD81 - 03-19-2011

I ran the Benz outta oil over spring break... It started running rough and I pulled over, oil pressure looked fine.... THE DAMN OIL PRESSURE SENDER FAILED! Thankfully, we were stuck in traffic and I pulled over in the sand... I haven't noticed any significant damage, made the 600 mile trip home just fine, but she does seem a little rougher on cold starts, could just be me tho.

not in the SDs, W126 uses an electric gauge.

The fail is using grain byproducts as cat litter... has to smell just pretty once the bacteria start eating it...

I got a 3rd of a box from a friend who was trying to train her cat to use the toilet and gave up. Another fail right there. This stuff is supposed to be flushable, It works ok soaking up oil spills.

RE: Fail thread - 300D50 - 04-07-2011

The last thing I want to do is get up ion the middle of the night, walk in, and sit down on a juicy cat turd from when Flufferball misses and hits the seat.

I've also heard that once they learn to flush, you find things go "missing" and the toilet never stops running...

The kit she had did not go into flushing much, I gather that was a "stage 2" kit. Basically you wean the cat into getting used to crapping with the toilet seat as a litter box, then slowly remove sections of a plastic insert so the cat has less and less litter to crap into. Eventually its just a small ring of litter with an opening into the toilet water, then nothing.

Eventually, the cat supposedly learns to stand on the seat and go to town. It certainly was one of the messiest and unsanitary disgusting processes I have observed though, prompting its abandonment 2 months in. The cat was kicking litter all over the bathroom, like in the sink and tooth brush and such. It was gross.
