ALDA problem? - Gearbound - 07-22-2012

300td does 0-60 in 18-20 seconds and i decided to get all the filters changed and clean the alda banjo and line and turn screw out. well the screw doesnt back out or go in and no smoke from idle to a snap wot. does this signify a bad ALDA? if it is bad do i just get rid of it and see if it will roll coal?

get rid of it

Get rid of it and see if your 0-60 improves.

Just remove it.

So its a 27mm nut and turn it ccw? does the whole alda turn with the nut? how about contamination getting into the pump with the alda removed?

RE: ALDA problem? - aaa - 07-22-2012

The nut turns clockwise. The nut stays on the pump, you are unscrewing the ALDA from the nut. Hold the ALDA in place while you turn.

Bought a 27mm and look it off. absolutely no difference. disassembled alda and it was truly back out completely. ill take pictures before i go into work and ill up load my visual finds. so what is the typical outcome when others remove this emissions device, more smoke at wot before boost or just smoke all the time?

RE: ALDA problem? - Simpler=Better - 07-23-2012

Are you getting full rack travel? Sounds like your linkage might be out of whack.

With no alda you should get smoke off the line when you gun it, and more power in the upper range. Make sure your wastegate is set properly-You can use the ALDA banjo on the back of the manifold for a boost source. Then get some cheap 1/4" nylon line from the hardware store, a 1/4" compression fitting, and a $5 slime dial tire gauge from walmart. Put it all together and you have a $10 boost gauge.

bryant.cw

i read your thread on the ALDA. good information. so i guess i shouldn't be expecting any coal rolling from the "boat" (300td) haha
