VNT/VGT controller options? - TurboWalt - 04-30-2012 Are there any "stand alone" VNT/VGT controller options? If possible I'd like to use a VNT/VGT turbo on my OM602 project. Is anything available of the shelf? I'd be willing to use a homebuilt solution (Ardunio, etc) if someone could provide a functional unit. What's out there, anything? Walt RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - Simpler=Better - 04-30-2012 You can always go mechanical with a vacuum actuator and pressure valves. RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - tomnik - 04-30-2012 or: Arduino controller DIY If you go for that let me know how it works. I am not clever enough or too old to solder and get this to run. Tom RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - aaa - 04-30-2012 Fleece performance sell a holset one for $600. Here's another "diy" (he ended up making a custom cnc case for a faster actuator motor): http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/395939-he351ve-controller-project.html RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - dieseljunky - 05-01-2012 IMO easiest way to control a VGT is to just run a wastegate to actuate the vanes and run it off of drive pressure. The Fleece controller is awesome but it would probably take a little work to adapt it to work on anything other than the 1998.5-2002 Dodge Cummins. Unless they have came out with a stand alone controller just for the turbo. It's been awhile since I looked at their website. RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - TurboWalt - 05-01-2012 Thanks for the replies. The Fleece unit must connect to a CANBUS so it's not a universal solution. Guess I'll have to look into the mechanical solutions. RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - aaa - 05-01-2012 They have a standalone controller for the 12v stashed somewhere on there site I think, showed up late last year. Not sure what it requires though. Not sure what it requires though. I had heard some talks awhile back about a stand alone controller coming out for the 12V's, along with one for the 3rd gen 5.9 common rails, but that was the last I had heard of that. I would imagine with some kind of boost referance and a throttle position signal you could make that stand alone controller work. RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - yatzee - 05-02-2012 http://dmn.kuulalaakeri.org/vnt-lda/ looks like someone already posted a link that linked to this one RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - TurboWalt - 05-03-2012 I found a Fleece Performance Garrett VNT stand alone controller on E/Bay. Weird that I cant find it on Fleece's website. Contacting seller to find out which Garrett VNT's it will work with. RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - yatzee - 05-03-2012 this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Standalone-Garrett-VNT-Controller-UNIVERSAL-/221010676798?hash=item3375434c3e&item=221010676798&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr RE: VNT/VGT controller options? - dieseljunky - 05-09-2012 Did you ever find out any info on that thing?? I might be picking up a new 6.7 Dodge here in the near futer. If that happens I'm gonna tear this w123 down and attempt to run an HE451VE on her if I can get enough fuel going to her. I'll probably just use a wastegate though and control the thing off of drive pressure. And maybe a pull cable for the EB.
