Blown Turbo Seals - Simpler=Better - 03-20-2012

Pulled my 2056v apart last night and found the compressor side to have oil in it.....
Pulled the exhaust side, and there's a nice, thick soot deposit all around the compressor...almost as if it was flinging oil out of the seal Sad

Poured some Kroil in the oil return line, held it upside down, and the Kroil seeped out around the exhaust turbine.

So where are you kids getting rebuild kits these days?

This sounds all too familiar. I don't know if these turbos are just shit to begin with, or if the oil pressure is too much for them and needs to be restricted further. Mine is puking oil into my intake manifold, nothing out the exhaust (yet)

Couple this with it being just too small for the OM617 and I'm pitching mine very soon. If you want to rebuild yours they sell kits on ebay

I got a turbo laying around that I would sell to you cheaper than a rebuild kit. (If its the turbo that im thinking off)

I've got a line on a GT2256V, in exchange for replacing some fuel lines.

Out of curiosity what turbo are you thinking of?

I am using a 1mm dia hole in the oil line fitting on mine and I have just a trace of oil in the intake. I started it with out any restrictor and had oil out of the compressor right away, then I made a restricted fitting.

Don’t go and toss them yet, I may be interested in them, they work really nice on the 616.

Hmmm.....What are the specs for shaft play on a 2056? I was running without a restrictor also
