You have the right xmember with from the auto 240d. The DS will need shortening.

I'm in the process of doing my 4spd 617 as we speak. Pictorial will be up shortly. Wink

thanks that would be great!!! I'm dying to do this swap I went junkyarding this weekend but was unsuccessful in finding a good w123 parts car all I got was a back window I'll keep looking for a peddle set I think I found a fly wheel from a 1969 220d will that work on a 617turbo Huh

RE: mercedes 240d 617 +4spd conversion - Section106 - 05-04-2009

Which 240D model years can be used to bolt onto a 617? I found a 76 240D manual. Will that work or should I try to find something from the 80s?

Any 220D or 240D will work.

RE: mercedes 240d 617 +4spd conversion - JB3 - 05-05-2009

A 300d automatic trans mount will also work on the 240. Dont know if the SD mount is the same, but if your reversed the plate, the bolt holes line up. I did mine as a temporary solution, and left it on for about 6 thousand miles without issue.

It won't stay that way for long.

The 240D automatic crossmember is the same as the manual 300D.

thanks for all of the help!!! the peddle set and clutch master are all I have left to find still! going to try a different yard next weekend

is the 220d flywheel different weight than a 240d? just curious

RE: mercedes 240d 617 +4spd conversion - willbhere4u - 06-08-2009

so I found a peddle set and a trans with 32k miles what else do I need for the om 617 vrs om616? do I need a different radiator oil cooler? any thing else???? so far I have a shift assemble, peddle set, trans, master and slave cylinder and lines

RE: mercedes 240d 617 +4spd conversion - winmutt - 06-08-2009

The shifter linkage and DS will have to be modified for fit. I would get the DS done first.

You also need a flywheel and clutch. I just happen to have a set for sale.

RE: mercedes 240d 617 +4spd conversion - willbhere4u - 06-13-2009

I just bought a clutch kit and got a fly wheel from a 220d sorry. I'm pulling the 617 out of my w116 in the next couple of week ends hopefully ! I got the peddle set installed alreaty it fit nice.
