A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN:

[Image: utf-8BSU1HMDA1NDUtMjAxMTEwMTUtMTYzNS5qcGc.jpg]

Above are two dyno graphs overlapped, they show hp over high speed lamda, the green one was my self build electronic governor pump fitted with Toms 7.5mm floyd elements(368hp)
The red graph is my self build mechanical pump fitted with the same 7.5mm elements.(307hp)
I can't seem to make anymore power with mechanical pump. I have had this pump on and off at least 12 times. This has proved to me that DIY governor setting will not work without a test bench.

NOW THE CHALLANGE.
Can Dieselmeken adjust my mechanical pump and get me more power than the (368hp) electronic pump.
If you agree to this challange, the car will be put back on the same Dyno Dynamics rolling road to compare results.
I would like as close to 450hp with full fuel to 6500rpm.

The challange is accepted. I Will do My very best. We Will se how much i can take out from The tomnik 7,5mm plungers.

hi,
yea its going to be interesting to see what happens here.
here is picture of my car, its not very pretty, will get some power first then worry about looks.

hi,
its a track car only, not used on the road. I left the drivers side lamp out to let air in and the passengers side lamp is still lying in the tyre wall at the drift track, lol.

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - dieselmeken - 10-30-2011

Today, Sunday I had a nice "mynä" 170cc pump up in the bench, also I dismantled it a bit, just to se what magic it was in it.
7 mm element, retarded notch for late injection at low fuel was some of the options, A nice mynä element that I never have seen before. Probably custom made for mynä.
1000 rpm @19,5mm rack app 170cc. with standard delivery valves. This pump was set to give 120cc with the outside adjuster that they have.
I did a small test and put in my deliveryvalves that are special, and ops! 200cc.
However, There is no one that can build a 606 engine that can burn up 200 cc clean, I think 150-160 is good for 600hp if someone can control it.

mantaheads pump is one its way, I keep you informed in this topic

Hi Göran,
what is the benefit of your delivery valves?
More important than overall output should be the question how is the balance of these elements.
What you don't see on the bench is the end of delivery which is more important than max. delivery.
If you have the time to check end of delivery (in angle deg of pump) at let's say 3 or 4 rack positions that will tell useful informations.
This compared by a certain delivery (50, 70, 90 ccm) then you get rack position x mm, y mm and z mm with Mantahead's pump and we get to the point.

Cheers,

Tom

Sorry Jeemu, I dont understand what you mean with that topic.
Can you be more precise?

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - dieselmeken - 10-31-2011

a small clip from the "mynärun" in my testbench. Note that the pump gives 160cc in this setup, that is because the adjuster on the outside not did give 100% throttle. If I push the rack by hand, the pump deliver 170cc.
A nice pump was it.
The car in the clip is not with mynäpump, that one is my testcar/engine with a completly different pump.

Hi Tom.
No other benefit than a lot of fuel. We have had this discussion earlyer in another topic.
Some of my customers want to have a lot of fuel, They dont understand the meaning of 120,170cc etc. As I wrote in this topic, no one can build a 606 engine that can burn that amount of fuel,

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - dieselmeken - 11-02-2011

The challange starts today Wednesday. Pump has arriwed and I start with cleaning it up before it goes up in the Bosch 711KMM Testbench.
There I will read off the values, and after that the pump goes to pieces for modification after mantaheads wishes.

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - iheartboost - 11-02-2011

WWWOOOOO!!! lol

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - dieselmeken - 11-02-2011

There is nothing wrong with elementswapping DIY, But this can be the result.

The pump is in pieces now

The Floyd 7,5 mm has gone bananas inside the ppump, there was som small intersection on the plungers, picture of that later on.
Usually this comes from contaminated fuel.
However, this is all from me for the moment, Now I have a Deutz V8 680HP Boschpump that need my attention for some hours

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - mantahead - 11-02-2011

hi,
so are the elements still ok?
What was max fuel it was putting out? Does max fuel seem low for 7.5mm elements(how much more fuel is left)?

Can you restate that? What do you mean by intersection? Elements were scored?

Also about your DV, is this for stock IP's as well?

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - sassparilla_kid - 11-02-2011

As interesting as reading about IP's has been, Im still a little confused about some of the numbers and nomenclature and what not, and was wondering if anybody has a diagram or schematic or something of one of these pumps?

Yes scored maybee The right word. Got it from google translator. Yes dlv valve is stock. Pump did give 110@1000rpm. Picture shows fuelcutoff. I have à filmclip of the balance. I Will show it when pump is ok again. The Floyd are under reconstruction for maxperformance. Tomnik Will probably kill me when he se what i do to his element.

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - tomnik - 11-03-2011

OMG!

are the Floyds yellow now?
The only damage I can imagine is scratch when the plunger was out and is inserted by raw force in combination with dirt this works even better.
But as the pump worked more or less after (sorry Wayne) garage installation it can't be too bad.
I am really excited what Göran will change on the geometry...

hi,elements where not forced or abused when I fitted them

Wayne

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - dieselmeken - 11-03-2011

This is the backside of the element, you can see the scratches or whatever you prefer to call them.
This is not from mounting, this is from contaminated fuel

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - tomnik - 11-03-2011

does it run smoothly in the barrel at all rotation positions?
Is this one single element damaged only?
If not, are all damaged on the same position?

Tom

Yes it floats nice, no problem there. All 5 elements looks the same, however the helix is not damaged and therefor I just polish the plunger up a bit after my small modification.

Hi. How much fuel i can got spray on the sylinder on 7mm IP?

If we say at 7mm pump give 250cc on your test pench.
Do you think at it has enough time to go to engine sylinder and have time enough to burn?

I dont know, it´s quite a lot of fuel and a small plunger, so the injection time will be very long. It also depend how the camshaft is grinded. Some of the pullingpumps I have had, has a "fast" camshaft, that is the lift is from 0 to max camlift in only a couple of degrees.

Göran,

nice video.
seems that the elements are still o.k.
Does the lightened fly weights have any influence on the behaviour of the pump in sense of driveability?
You should somehow point out that this pump is an engine killer for most people and that Wayne uses this pump only for his track car.

Tom

RE: A CHALLANGE FOR DIESELMEKEN !!! - dieselmeken - 11-10-2011

Yes i should, You just did it.
The drivability is probably the worst ever, As i explain in the clip, the governor is lighnted a lot, that will maybee give some "hunting" on low idle, I dont know, Wayne has to try it out. When pump is on low idle and 7 mm of rack, and I put the rews down, the rack shall come forward of the weights 4-5 mm, thats for not stalling the engine, this pump do only 2-3 mm because of the lighnted weight

No Tom, I dont have any 605 engine to test it on, I leaves Sweden today 11-11-10 for Norten Irland.

Wayne will have it next week and he has promised me to put the car in dyno as soon as he can.
