I'll worry about the welding once I have the tubing.
Where is the cheapest/best place to score some 3" tubing?

I saw some 3ft sections on ebay for 30ish
or
5 ft for $52

probably need at least 5ft from the down pipe to muffler

Like from a chainlink fence Wink

I read that it might be just as cost effective to go to midas and have them open up the exhaust a bit.

Ya I would just take it to a low rent muffler place. Probably cost 100 or so.

hey just an FYI, i had an entire exhaust system that i designed, fabricated AND installed by a local shop (he does the BEST work with the BEST pipe) for $170 (i supplied the muffler and a cat) for my 1984 BMW e30 318i... 2 1/4 from the manifold back (he even fabbed up a "collector" if you will for the goofy manifold on that m10 engine... dont get hosed... if you cant find it cheaper let me know how many feet you want and the gauge you want the wall thickness... i can get it for you, where in IL are you (feel free to PM)

I was thinking one 5' of this would do it. Just need to find out what size the pipe pre resonator is. And I hope the turn down on the muffler is the same size so I can reuse it.
Also need to borrow my buddy's welder and learn to weld. Oh, and some high temp sealant.
thanks though
