What all to upgrade/beefup in drivetrain?
Hello guys,
Hope you all are safe during this covid epidamic.
Onto the topic
I am about to finish my om606 superturbo build with bws257sxe and 7.5mm meken pump with 722.649 and aiming for 450hp at wheels in my 94 e300d
Now as a part of preventive measure I want to upgrade/fix/beefup the drive train so looking for your opinion. Will run 265mm or if possible 285mm semi slicks tyres in the rear. I don't want me breaking parts and standing in the middle if road every other day for every other part and then upgrading and process go on. So want to do it before hand. Looking for your opinion on followings
1). Upgrade the flexdisc to 110mm or convert to U joint?
2). Stock driveshaft is fine?
3). What about CV joints/axle
4). Upgrade diff to 210mm with lsd? (This is the most expensive upgrade so what alternate)
What else are possible failures? Or should be upgraded?
I want to put down as much power/torque on road I can. I know it can easily spin 285 tyres. But dont want like getting proper traction in 4th gear.
TIA
Nobody other than you knows how you drive, or your level of mechanical sympathy.
PLenty of people running swaps on standard drivetrain.
Make sure it's all serviceable, correctly lubed and serviced.
CV's will break on the outboard fuse (spline) shoulder, flexdiscs will shred if you punish it like a fuckwit in any case - you don't need a big power om606 to do that.
Good luck getting those fat tyres under stock rear arches.
You can see Pumpish videos at Tube, he explains transmission used in his W124 1000HP M104 Turbo, 210mm diff, 32mm thick driveshafts, shortened with modified suspension to fit wide drag slicksm 3 bolt flexdisc .
Another video from other Tube user fits W210 CV joints with spindles, explains are 30mm thick at spline, the W124 with 27mm. This if not remember bad, I can be confused.
