Manual Transmission information
i got it, maybe there´s a few diff in the housing , i´m not sure but i think one of them misses the exaust support.
this 717.413, are dual mass flywhell, and as i´ve read somewhere they are among the stronguest ones.
if i intend to use a single mass flywhell what transmission should i search for? is the 717.411 good enought?
in your opinion what is the best flywheel ? the simgle mass flyehell uses the same clutch pad and pressure plate as a dual mass?
thanks in advance.
ive heard that the 717.433 and 432 is stronger than the 717.413
the 432 and 433 found on the 300E m103 straight six, and the 717.413 on the smaller engines i think
the same with 717.411 and 717.430 where the 430 is the stronger.
am i missinformed?
dont think the singlemass and dualmass uses the same pressureplate and clutch, the dualmass is larger, (at the flywheels i have laying around)
thanks swanpmonkey,
yes the flywheels difer , imagine that i have two cars with the same gear box, diff flywheels and dif pressure plates, the clutch disk fits both!
717.413 is a really bad gearbox , droped a 413 from my good car and imagine what i found out? was on the way to destruction! found severe axial play on the main bearing, and longitudinal and axial play at the output shaft, tomorrow going to open it to see if is just a question of bearings.
in the mean time i will search for a 433 or 432.
regards.
hy there,
717.414 shares same interior with 717.416. small diferences in the sincro levers nothing else.
does any one know where i can find a service and reair manual for this gearboxes?
got all parts in good shape now, just missing the knwlegde to assembler it toguether ;(
(12-18-2014, 03:42 PM)Lambo_Rambo Hello, I am interested in 270cdi gearbox, does anyone know if it would fit M102/103/104/111 engines?716.xxx gearbox from 270 cdi fits m104 engine. As far as some users tested, it doesn't brake under 800 nm, but wheel spin of course, I suppose at full grip it would crack much sooner........... 717.xxx tranny is shit, 3rd gear will brake under heavy foot.
Does anyone know what are the torque ratings of getrag 717.401 and a 270cdi gearbox?

Any help here is helpful... I just picked up a 717.4xx (wish I knew the last numbers there) and am trying to figure out the shift pattern (and where to buy an acceptable shifter assembly if it's not a dogleg, as I already have a dogleg shifter assembly).
Info from the seller:
Mercedes factory replacement transmission: R-DOT sticker on the bellhousing, the serial number 124 with the remainder of the serial number boss being machined flat, and short input shaft indicates this replacement transmission was designated for a late 80's 300e/300ce (w124 chassis).
The transmission has the following ratios:
R - 4.25
1 - 3.91 (this is a 717.411 ratio)
2 - 2.18 (this is a 717.430/.435 ratio)
3 - 1.38 (.430/.435 ratio)
4 - 1
5 - 0.78 (.411 ratio)
This does not have the notoriously weak 717.411 3rd gear, if you're looking for a transmission that will handle the extra power of a modified engine.
This transmission will mate to any inline M10x or OM60x engine, using a single-mass flywheel.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
it doesnt matter if you have the reverse to the left and downwards, or right and downwards, they are interchangeable, (but as always even when swapping between the "exact" same shifter, linkages have to be adjusted.
both of them have three levers, that manages 1+2, 3+4 and 5+reverse
if you have a fifth that has 0.78 it is not a dogleg gearbox, and even the strongest non dogleg 717.4 gearboxes break in the third gear (where the dogleg ought to break in fourth i think)
