Hi guys!

I am from Croatia and i work on my project.I put OM606 in my bertram 25 from "75 but not enough power.Tomorow i will send my IP(fromOM603) to Dieselmeken in Sweeden and he will open her with 7.5 mm parts.
My question is wich turbo to buy,HX 35 or HX 40.I saw on some videos that HX 40 is normal turbo to put but on dyno test he boost on 3200 rpm.Is HX 35 maybe little faster for boost on lower rpm?I need about 350 HP and faster torque

for 350 hp , hx35 is plenty, buy one with small turbine housing, you'll have fast spool. Hx40 is for 400-450 hp. Don't forget to tell Goran to adjust the pump for @350 hp, to much fuel won't do u any good, just a load of black smoke and high EGT.

Thanks for info,i will tell Goran to reduce pump to 350 hp becouse that power is more than enough and i dont need problems with overheating and EGT.
My priority is pull max power on lower RPM becouse it is important for speedboat acceleration. After 20 mph 250 hp will be enough to keep him on normal cruise speed.
How much boost to adjust on turbo?

Depending on the turbine housing, if u go for a small housing(quick spool) you won't be able to push them too far, bigger housing -> bigger low-end power , but slow spool. Anyway, depending on the turbo condfiguration, fueling, cooling etc their range is smwhere between 30 and 50 psi. I thing a small turbine housing will suit you best for a boat!

I send pump today to Goran.50 Eur is shipping to SwedenAngry.Find one commpany here in Croatia which is main dealer for Holset,Garett and other turbos and service man told me that i put HX40 for better results. He said that difference will be about 100-200 rpm better spool on HX 35 but with HX40 i have bigger low end power. He said that HX35 is for 300 hp max power and HX40 for 400 hp .Is this right??Price for HX 40 is 800 Eur and if i give him old turbo than i have 10% discount which is ok price for me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNFAvPYvVKU he's got 350hp out of hx35. But, you could also buy the hx40 as it is perfect for a future power upgrade, u can modify rack travell on the pump and get more hp, or tell Goran to make the settings straight for 400hp, your choice man. However ask for 12cm turbine housing, it will spool faster. GL!

On a boat I would lean towards smaller. You want to be able to hold a lower slower cruising speed for economy and with a 40 you will be falling off of boost and falling off of plane. You may even want to go smaller then a HX35 unless you really dont care about cruising and just want to go faster for distances. If you went with a HX30 you could probably make your power goals and still have boost all the time.

The Holset man is trying to rip you off! ASure he tells you to buy a HX40 for 800 euro and you get a 10% discount by giving him your HX35, man you can sell that HX35 for 300 euro right now! Hell I'd buy it!

I don't think a 12cm3 HX40 turbine housing is available OEM so it won't be a better fit for your boat than the HX35.

My dad's 34' sports fish has a pair of 300 HP Cummins that uses H1C turbos. They have the same dimensions as the HX35W (12cm2 exhaust). I cannot see you needing any larger than that. HX40 would be a waste for you.
You would be better off with the H1c that is water cooled for safety.

A stock 606 turbo with 7.5mm should be about 225hp max. I have the same setup on my boat. I know a hx40 for sale but after reading this I think I also choose for a Hx35.

Within the Cummins diesel community, the Chinese knocks offs are considered junk, definitely a case of you get what you pay for.
