adding w210 turbo to 95 w124 om606na
adding w210 turbo to 95 w124 om606na
Hi Everyone- I recently bought a 95 e300d to use as my daily driver. I drive a lot for work so this seems like a great car for my needs. The car was well kept and the drive train is in good order.
I have done some reading on a few forums and wanted to confirm this would be a viable option. Can I simply bolt on a turbo manifold, turbo, and intake from a 98-99 om606 turbo onto my engine? I was searching online and it seems the factory setup would not be that pricey to source. Would I need anything else besides the parts I listed?
Thanks in advance- Cory
If you want to keep it simple: bolt on the turbo and exhaust manifold, you can get oil pressure from the filter housing so you need to make a new oil line. You can use the oil drain from the original turbo, you just need to connect it to the block or oil pan. Skip the intercooler and make a hose from the turbo to your stock intake. Tune up your stock diesel pump.
You are not going to get a lot of hp but your engine will start to pull strong from ca 2000rpm instead of ca3500rpm(stock na606) so the car will be much nicer to drive
Hello guys,
I also have a W124 OM606NA as a daily driver and I need more power
OM606 is a great machine and also fine to drive, but as erling66 mentioned it pulls away from 3500rpm.
Is it possible to make a STD out of a NA version OM606.910 or is it better to use a OM606.962?
Are there great differences between turbo and NA 606? They both have piston cooling nozzles, as I have seen.

Thank you all for your great replies!
Just some other questions:
* Is it possible to use a modified OM606 NA pump or do I need to use a turbo pump and modifie it?
* Which turbo I could use on my OM606 NA for my daily driver? Holset HX40?
* Which exhaust manifold would I need to use? An original one from Turbo OM606 or do I need something special?
* Intercooler is clear, but do I also need to modifie somithing else?
* Is it possible to get about 250HP without producing smoke like an old diesel train? Is there something like a "smoke limiter"?
Thanks in advice

My OM606N/A has an IP with this Bosch number:
PES6M55C320RS203
Pump element number is:
1 418 305 549
So this should be a 5,5mm pump element.
OM606 turbo has IP number:
PES6M60C320RS206 --> EDC
Pump element number is:
1 418 305 554
This would be a 6mm pump element.
All videos are om606.910 with tuned stock 5.5mm na pump and 1 bar of boost! Works really good and you can expect around 160 hp

(02-16-2013, 09:43 AM)RedDiesel The stock turbo can't run on a 606 without a computer. Its an extremely small turbo and will overspeed if a plain wastegate is used.

You can`t overspeed that turbo with 5.5 elements! Overspeed comes with big engines and hig pressure...Mount a 1bar wg on it and you will have a perfect turbo

(03-30-2013, 11:45 PM)WDieselTurbo maybe, manifold, no chance, the w201 was fitted only with OM601 (4 cyl) & OM602( 5 cyl) diesels, no diesel six in the 201, the W124 had the six cyl.(02-16-2013, 05:51 PM)EDH_Performance(02-16-2013, 09:43 AM)RedDiesel The stock turbo can't run on a 606 without a computer. So a turbo and manifold from a W201 will work on an om606,

Yes do this and turn your pump up like I did you won't be sad. Check out my build http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/thread-1240.html
I have had so much more fun since I put the turbo on my car it does make a huge difference I live in mountains and it pulls up the hills instead of down shifting and reving up in the rpm.
