W126-ish coupe hood on to a W123??
W126-ish coupe hood on to a W123??
Hello all. So I had an idea. I saw a 500SEC (W126 I believe) recently in a car show. And of course I noticed it's awesome hood/grille. I was wondering what it would take to put a hood like that on my 300D. I know the headlights are set up differently and the fog lamps are below the bumper. I've looked for dimensions to determine whether it would fit or not but I haven't found much. According to one site I found, the width of a W123 is about the same as a W126. I'm not sure about the length or height. Just eyeballing it, it appears to be about the right size. But I don't know if the engine or radiator might be set too high or something. I think I'd have to at least replace the headlight assemblies, and put on a new bumper piece for the fog lamps.
Any opinions?? Oh and here's a picture in case you don't know what I'm talking about.
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
I think I saw someone who put one on a W124 chassis, and it looked pretty good even if it covered the stock ambers...

Oh dang I haven't looked at this thread in a while. I really like the wider look of the coupe grille. The sport grill looks good but I'm not really liking the idea for my car. I might go and modify it from scratch. But engine modifications come first.

ive seen a few photo bundles on ytube , of eurolights and bumpers . i have the old school lights , im thinking abou blacking out the shells and chrome through out . and "modding the bumpers euro " plastic welder ! , but everytime i see an Sec i wonder . havent physically seen one to measure ?
know of any sources for the euro stuff?
There were two Euro w126 Coupes at my local yard about four months ago.
They've since been crushed. Didn't think anybody was looking for such stuff.
.
that last few photos of the converted front end looked pretty good . the bumpers throw me off , i would change the rear some how , maybe tuck another front bumper cover into the rear . im thinking of an Sec front swap for my m126 . i saw a guy selling a real nice 126 in AZ CL with the front end done .
