How to get the rally look.
How to get the rally look.
As we're experiencing cold and dark winters here in Norway, I'm going for the rally look on my 123... For practical reasons, and because it looks awesome as hell if it's done properly.
I have bought a pair of Hella Rallye 3003 lamps, and going for 2 more (3 on each side, like the Audi S1 had, back in the days).
I'm painting a spare hood matte black, putting on taxi-springs in the front, applying yellow head light film and putting on BIG red mudflaps.
I'll be using some 15" BBS RG wheels from a W126. Should I paint them signal orange, maybe?
This is somewhat of a good look, IMO: (Mine is getting alot more ground clearance, and I'm keeping the bumpers)
Any suggestions on what else I should do?
I vote nobbly winter tires... If that wasent already implied lol
OK I"M TAKING OFF MY BUMPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks so Dope!
good find! i love the stance of that car fat tires low off set mesh wheels. looks awesome.
I have big dangle-y mudflaps, Hella 500's, and french yellow fogs. I like my cars look. I am going to do a flat black hood though.
I also attached a car from Norway with 4 driving lights. I might get 2 more to fill out the look.
I am going to have to say the first car still looks best. No bumpers, no extra lights
I love the look of the first one, right down to the wheels... Now I gotta find a set of those wheels! For the rally look, I would say keep the bumpers, add lights, 14" wheels with knobby tires, and about an inch higher than stock!
Here's one from the 1982 Paris-Dakar Rally. Alas, the w123 DNF. (or as the French so delicately put it "Abandon" -ed.) nice pun, huh?
That year Paris-Dakar was won by.... ahem... errr... a Renault 20 Turbo... (which is total crap compared to the Merc), second place for a Lada Niva, third place was a Merc G-Wagen, and then a Range Rover...
Oh well,
