ESM wheels on the W123 - haromaster87 - 12-13-2012

Hey guys,

So I'm wanting to get some 16x8 Mesh type wheels for my car, it's a 1984 300D. I know Rial and BBS made some of the pretty popular wheels back in the day, but those seem to be really hard to find. And usually when you do they need some work.

I found a company called ESM that makes a Mesh type wheel, that can be purchased brand new, and based on what I've been able to find on wheel fits for the W123, I feel like they can fit. I would do the 16x8 up front and 16x9 out back. Here is the page:

They can apparently drill to any center bore and lug pattern, so I'm not sweating that.

I know traditionally the AMG wheels in the 16x8 size had an offset of 11. However, I've seen evidence that the 11 offset on an 8in wide wheel doesn't quite fit the front fender of the W123's. These have the offset of 20 on the 16x8, which I think would bring the front in enough.

I'm kind of hoping maybe someone is running these, or something of the same size/offset and can help me out.

I know the tire size is another factor, but I suppose I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Just want to get an idea on the rim size first.

Also, I know the ESM rims are probably not built quite like the BBS or Rials, but my lil' old 300D is not gonna be putting much stress on them. And I know I could probably get a set of BBS's for similar cost, but I just don't have the energy to look high and low for them. haha

Thanks for any info you guys can offer!

It says 5x100 bolt pattern, I think they need to be 5x112

They look good similar BBS wheels go for around $1200. I say go for it unless they are made in China
