OM605 with mec IP - BRABUS - 05-17-2012

hi.

i have a 605turbo with a 602IP. i had the engine running when the 602 ip was innstalled (used a 1gallon can as fuel tank). one month after i connected the ip to the cars fuel line and tank. but now it starts but i wont rev, it stalls like a car going out of fuel when reving. max rp i can get is 1500rpm. tried to hook up the 1gal can to check if it ws the cars piping/fuel pump causing the issues. but its the same no matter what i do..

any ideas??
could it be timing??

Check the lift pump pressure?

RE: OM605 with mec IP - BRABUS - 05-18-2012

hi. i "think" the pressure is good. Because i can se much diesel running tru the return line on the ip.
Maybe i should try to bypass the lift pump, the fuel system in the car delivers about 1.2 - 1.3 bar to the lift pump now(using a electronic intank pump and fuel pressure regulator).

I assume you're using the pre heater system, wich is running through the cylinder head and the dieselfilter holders "foot"... This was the source to my problem, it was leaking and pulled a lot of air in the fuel lines.. I ran the fuel line directly into the lift pump, and to the filter, and my problem was then solved... I doesnt seem to need the preheating system, even in ice cold northern norway Smile

Loosen the hose from the filter to the IP, and crank till you can see diesel pouring out, fasten it, and do the same prosedure with ALL of the injector pipes to get rid of all air in the system, and then fasten and start it... You could ofcourse check the filter(s) too, just to be sure...
Check the O-rings, clean and heat/glow the copper rings to the banjo bolts before reassebly... Wash everything, and check if it leaks, it shouldnt leak a single drop.

forgot to update.

I dont use the preheater.
It was the regulator in the return banjo from the ip. Changed it and now it runs smooth and receives 1.5bar from the in tank pump!
