w123 manual transmission question - TheDon - 08-12-2011 Got my spare 4 speed for my 240D to swap in. The only difference is the reverse shift lever is upside down compared to mine. ![]() ![]() See the bottom arm. Can they be removed and flipped or will that not work? I couldn't find the shifter rods that were supposed to go with the transmission. I'm replacing my current transmission because 1st gear is not working at all. I need to double check. I have an '82 and loping at the sticky on the manuals the curtsy transmission in my car is the aluminum body 4 speed. Nevermind. I just went out and looked. Shift levers are oriented the same. The only difference is the last 4 or 5 digits of the transmission number.
