I don't think the W116 has this. If you are trying to do the purple wire mod, just pull it and start stocking up on junkyard gp's. Mine lasted a full year before 1 went out.

then what sensor is between the 1 and 2 glow plugs?? the plug that connects to the sensor goes straight to glow plug relay box so it must be the temperaturre sensor for pre-glow.

i bought the part at autohausaz.com and there always accurate with parts on all my cars.
FAE
Pre-Glow Time Relay; Temperature Sensor for Pre-Glow Time Relay with 1 Pole Terminal
Please verify appearance, connections, and part number on existing relay prior to ordering. 1 per car.

That is probably why your plugs burned out. That temp sensor controls how long the glow is. In effect, you already have the purple wire mod done.

Major confusion here...the last post was meant for my other thread regarding the temperature sensor for the gauge cluster... My water temp sensor is toast so im replacing that one today.

Winmutt i also ordered the temperature preglow sensor as well since its orginal and better to replace since its about thirty years old.. Could of been why my last set of plugs burnt out like you said.

Your right purple mod is temporarily in effectSmile
