Its kinda maintenance,, but not orthodox. I posted this elsewhere, but got bad feedback.


Here's the idea:

Inject water to clean the pistons and PC's, primarily. I have this 190D that I just put a new headgasket on and the inside is a mess b/c some PO was burning all sorts of garbage straight from the tank.

I want to inject water to clean it up once its running. Not for performance on a regular basis so much as a quick mod to get the inside back to normal.

sorry, no pics... but 2 of the 4 PC's were 40% completely clogged. They have been reamed and the head is back on already.
So far, it seems I should inject a fine mist slightly above idle at operating temperature.

any other details???

A buddy of mine did it to an old 12 valve Cummins 6BT several years ago. I don't remember all of the details but he said it worked quite well. I know he used a hot water pressure washer and held it back from the intake several feet, as the source of H2O injection. He said he was amazed at all of the crap that came out of the tail pipe.

On gassers we use to get them up to temp makes the water in to steem!!!! and we would use a carb jet in the end of a vaccunme hose in a boddle of water and let it suck it up under vaccume slowly!!!! you dont want to to water lock it with too much water and bend rods!!!! it works well we would let it suck up 1 gal of water over like a 1/2-1 hr period then drive it for a distance afterwards!!!!

Why? Water in the oil is not overly unusual, a good high way drive will burn it all off.

Thats why MB changed the oil cooler thermostat from 95*c to 110*c, boil off moisture in the oil.

Seafoam does the same thing and there's zero risk of hydrolocking the motor with it. I've seen it used on a variety of cars and it works.

Hydrolocking isn't the concern when spraying a combustible fluid into the intake of a diesel. Wink
