Came across this today..

Someone swapped a 722.6 into a 300CE. Any possibilities on bolting one to a 617? He mentions that it should fit a 603 or 606... Will it stand up to a turned up engine?

Looks like its controlled by a bunch of solenoids, so even without the $1000 controller, it might be possible to turn it into a "manual automatic".

Left starter wart. At the very least you would have to do a bell cut-n-swap.

Its used behind the 1,000Nm SL65 V12. From 1997 until the 7-speed 722.9 was introduced, all MB's automatic cars had a 722.6.

I don't see why not. The most difficult part would be shift transitions. With a simple manual shifter the shifts would slam between gears like a 300D with a broken vacuum hose. Don't forget about controlling the lockup torque converter as well.
