Someone needs to make a decal for this, I have had the same problem when I wash an engine off with purple cleaner. It takes the timing marks off. I just measured off another one and scribed the line on.

There are two semicircular indentations on the outside of the balancer. Assuming these aren’t custom balancing marks, they could be used to show where the timing marks should be.
