Well im making a few mods to my OM617 that im dropping into my Jeep Cherokee. One is i needed to make a delete for the factory vacuum pump. Well because im not good at leaving well enough alone i took the injection pump "dampener?" Drive apart only realize its 2 pieces and sprung. Can i lock it into place? Or do i need to reassemble it to make the engine work? And if i do have to reassemble it do i have to take the timing cover off and gear out to do it?

That's the "timing device" and needs to be put back together if you want your injection timing to advance properly. I've never had one apart so can't help you but think it's pretty simple as long as you didn't lose any bits!

Thank you, I was hoping I wouldn't have to use it haha. now to see if I can make it go back together without taking the chain off haha
