Hi Friends,

I have been working on this project for over 3 years. I sometimes did not have enough time or cash to move on and all the trial and error demotivated me.

Here is the very short story:

I sourced an OM606 A and used engine mounts from W140 S300TD
722.6 Transmission with PCS Standalone controller
7.5mm pump from Göran
Hx35 turbo (from China, very high A/R)
Diff from W140 S320 (3.27)

The car is running now but, not enough boost, only 1.5 bar.

Now, my mechanic found a HX40.
I have read many things about the hx40 and being tired of all the trial and error I would like to ask you guys for advice to have fast spool and around 400hp:
1. The turbine housing size
2. The turbine wheel size and number of blades
3. Compressor wheel size and number of blades

What would be the best combination, daily drivability is my priority against top end.

Thanks in advance for the information.

Have a nice weekend!

It is a Chinese HX35 with very big turbine housing, the size is as large as the compressor housing.

My rpm is not working now but I guess it starts to build from around 3000 and the maximum I see 1.5 bar is almost at full rpm. I do not use a wastegate, cannot spool.
I do not know if it will be possible but to start building the boost around 2000rpm and see maximum at 3500 would be great.
Thanks

what kind of manifold do you have? orginal. turbulat or short mainifol single or twin scroll? Do you know what A/R you have on exhaust house? If you look in side of it you should be able to read it.
Does the exhaust house have wastegate but you are not using it, yes?
there quite some other people here that has use HX40, earch and you will find alot

Hi,
I have a custom made short single manifold.
I just learned where to see the size of the housing, I will check when I go to the workshop.
Yes, it does have a wastegate but I'm not using it.
Ok, I will keep searching.
Thanks.

Read this one, it is good in many way, but is only one of many other good ones and there is many more
http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/show...p?tid=6189

if you have a twin scroll manifold short one you gain like 500rpm in spooling, since you do not want that much boost it can work nice.
There are twin turbo set up for oem application trucks, borg waner call the R2S and garrett call them DSGT that will easy do 400HP and spool will good like you want or even better, but turbos like that take alot of space and weight about 25-30kg and you will need intercooler and aftercooler, a way more complicated system.
Good luck

Get a 10 or 12 cm HX35 and install a quickspoolvalve.
