I am going back and forth on which way I should go with my 617a and a bigger pump.

I want to be able to run 20 lbs of boost and would have the fueling limited to 100 to 120 cc/1000 and not going above 5K rpm.

Currently I have the camshaft advanced 10*,  Big Mouth Prechambers, Full load turned up, Torque Control turned way up, the high speed governor deleted, and start of injection set to 28*. I am going to try 29* when I swap out the injectors to 315s. It runs really nice and is ready for a 10mm pump.

I dont want any more lag than the stock T3, which after the engine mods, is not bad at all, these engines are not torque monsters and by 2K it is building nice boost, I just want more of it lol. The easiest thing to do would be to have a 60 trim compressor wheel put in the T3 and hope that the waste gate will flow enough to handle the additional fuel. BUT.. I keep thinking about a variable HX35 twin scroll set up which would allow me to adjust the turbine side for the engine, but I am not sure if the waste gate is ported to both chambers. If it is only on the larger side then the set up gets more complicated.

I was originally going to go with a GTXXXXV but they do not like the oil pressure. As i understand it the HX can handle it fine. I like simplicity, which makes the t3-60 trim appealing, but I would also hate to be limited in flow.

Any thoughts?

the holsets are quite good turbos for the price and can sure take some abuse without minding. i might recommend a HE221. the one im running with my 8mm M pump is quite nice to drive. if i brake toque the engine i can see over 10 psi before 2000rpm and it doesn't seem to run out till 4500 or so. im running the 6cm housing so i suspect thats whats choking it out up top but the 7cm housing is much more common. there are a few different maps for the 221 and im not sure which one is correct but supposedly it flows between 33 and 38lbs/minute at a PR of just under 3:1. i have seen new oem units for around 6-700$ the only issue is it is difficult to clock without making a new mount for the wg actuator and its a t25 flange. eurotrashmotorsports has a few in stock and there are always a few on ebay just watch out for clones.

Any idea what your exhaust pressure is?

I was originally looking at a GT2556V and think I found one with a T3 flange, but it might be a t25. A GT2560V was another option. I am not familiar with the HE series of turbo.  I will have to look it up Smile

i measured it a while ago and a few things have changed since then like the pump however it maintained parity or slightly below up to 10 psi when i did measure. the HE series is just the new version of the HX

I have a HE221 with 5.5cm ehxuast on order from eurotrash.

I currently have a Holset HX30 with a 7.5 pump. Once on boost it isn't bad but I wanted something that spools faster/lower rpm. My OM617 is in a Land Rover 110 so lower end power is what I'm looking for.

For the T25 flange - I had an extra exhaust manifold and ordered a Mamba T3-T25 plate that is 19mm / 3/4" thick. 2 of the bolts are accessible so I used them and then TIG welded all around it. I will post pics one of these days.

After doing some research, it is looking like your suggestion may be the way to go. From what I have found the turbine housing will swap with a HX27 so that gives me an idea of its flow capacity. I have not been able to find a pressure map though, but from the sound of what I have read, it is what I am looking for. Smile

ignore all the extra crap tacked onto the map but as far as i know its accurate. i have seen a few others without efficiency islands and the basically match this one.
