I was able to put this together for around $85.00. It's a K&N Apollo universal intake. I also had to buy a 60 Degree silicone reducer elbow and I also run the prefilter. There is a more turbo noise with this setup but I like it!

I'm looking into building a snorkel setup for my OM617 into the Land Rover 110 and thinking of using this as the air filter as it is an inline setup.

Does anyone have any insight into it since 2012?

Thanks!

First time for me seeing this thread and first impression is it's rather tiny for a diesel. 350 hp might be plucked out of thin air for a petrol engine which doesn't need as much air mass per hp as our IDIs do. And did I mention K&N filters are shit? Lol

Why on earth you'd want to fit one is beyond me. Especially in a land rover type vehicle, they just let allllll the crap through.

Thanks - haha glad I brought the thread back up then before I made a purchase!

What I thought was slick was the enclosed design where I could run the tubing from the snorkel to one side and then exit out to the turbo inlet.

I could always make something out of sheet aluminum but I'm so sick of fabrication work (been taking me ages to get the HX30 installed) that something "off the shelf" would make it easier for me.

If you guys have any suggestions please let me know - I would really appreciate it!

Do you have an existing air box that fits, like a PHB102510, that you can waterproof?

Most Land Rover air boxes are probably all too small, BUT the defender v8 one is huge and should be plenty big enough!

My brother in law has a parts RRC. I'll see if that has anything worthwhile. If it's made of steel I can modify it as I have a welder.

Depending on your available room you may be able to fit a stock MB fender mounted air box.
It should give adequate airflow.

One from a 85 W126 300SD recently has been mounted on my 83 W126 300SD.
This frees up space to install my non-EGR exhaust manifold and the longrunner W115 intake manifold.

If I can get a freebie one from my brother in law I might get a second one on eBay and seam weld them together to make something where a good size filter will fit.

Thanks - I might just do a cylinder style so air filter R&R will be (or should be) easier.

I like the different ideas tho!
