Hello, can someone explain whats the gain in changing the original 3 bar boost sensor to the 4 bar boost sensor ?
Trick the ecu to boost more ?

Tanx for help.

ECU can see 1 bar of more boost pressure.
Can`t tell you if it`s reasonable to heat up the air with extra pressure.

400kPa absolute pressure?

The gain is your ecu will see upto 3bar boost.
It is only benefitial if your turbo and injector and pump will flow enough for 3bar boost.
Also without rescaling a new map sensor. The car will run more boost but use less fuel. So no benefit other than cleaner running as it will run leaner.
This was a mod people did on om605/6 map sensors with a resistor.
ECU would see less boost so raise boost level BUT it also injects less fuel for the amount of boost. Then they fit evry mod to try raise fuelling, this works okay but upto a point only.

On CDI cars you can trick fuel temp sensor, rail pressure sensor and intake air temp sensor to try raise boost.
But ultimately a remap is the best bet for CDI

Also a side note, the only exception is a map sensor that places atmospheric pressure at a higher voltage point like some higher pressure map sensors and the car will think it has some boost and will fuel accordingly.
In this case it will have more off-boost fuelling but less onboost fuelling.

Ok so if I change injectors and also do a mapping, then I dont need a 4 bar boost sensor if Im not going to boost more than 2 bar,,

depending on your goal just a remap may do.
You haven't specified a power output or swapped turbo or hybrid turbo.
There are plenty of re-mappers who can do this for you.

Amg injectors will give you more power alone without a remap but are an expensive and possibly not necessary way of getting power.

Also, if you are not depending on the ECU to control the boost, it's okay to run more boost than the MAP sensor can read.

Baldur> No, you cant. ECU has requested boost map and if the certain value is not obtained in certain time with certain precision then limp home mode. With EDC15VM this is tolerance of 40kPa for overshoot and 4 seconds.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ex: 525tds 130kW, C250TD 160kW, E320CDI 200kW, ML400CDI 230kW, A6 R5TDI 130kW
Now: Q7 V8TDI 240kW, 320d 150kW, 335d 210kW

Yeah obviously this will only work on a modified ECU...

Amg injectors is ordered, and then I will also remap.
So thats why I wonder if I should change to 4 bar sensor togheter with this work and why ?

Im not going extreme, safe boost on this engine i feel would be 1,8-2,0 bar.
Dont think I going to change turbo since so low boost.
Probably another intercooler.
Maybe another oil pump from 320cdi
This is a Gwagen with 156 hp, I will be happy with 250-280 hp

Thank you again for sharing thougts

Dont think of the boost as the limiting factor for the turbo.

A larger billet wheel, will still spool the same also handle the same boost BUT flow more so is more efficient at making power in higher revs and is ultimately your best benefit matching larger injectors and ecu remap.
The stock turbo will limit you goals but it hasnt enough flow/ head room for 100-120hp if this is your goal.
stock map sensor is fine for these upgrades though.

Can you even swap in a 320cdi turbo. i dont know what size is fitted to your car off the top of my head.

There is GT22V on 270CDI and 320 uses GT23. If you wont upgrade high pressure pump you can leave that GT22 there, but forget 2Bar, it will fall apart. Around 1.6Bar is pretty safe.
