So finally got my om617 swap running. Now here's my question the hose by the oil filter I'm assuming is a coolant hose. Can I block that off without issue

Yes if you don't want the cabin heater.


1978 300D, 373,000km... OM617.912 with a Holset HX30W, 7.5mm IP, 711.113 5 speed (project car, 7 years off the road and counting ;/)

I'd think you'd want to loop it so it bypasses the cabin but does flow out of the back of the head. Isn't its function to keep the rearmost cylinders cool?

Manual climate control at least stops flow through that circuit completely. When doing performance mods, on all 6xx engines it's a good idea to loop it as you say
