hello i was wondering how difficult would it be to swap a 210mm ASD diff out of a w124 into a w123. i know you would have to swap half shafts and the rear prop shaft. i also assume the mounting is different but by how much? would you have to remove and change the entire sub-frame or could some brackets and reinforcement be welded in in situ? i like the idea of a 20-30% lsd with the option of manually locking the diff and i doubt its possible to fit an ARB air locker or something similar in the stock w123 pumpkin.

I've wondered about this too, maybe you could carefully weld new (old) mounts onto the other diff if you were clever...

Don't know about the subframe swap, that'd be quite tricky?

Some 190E people were swapping in Jap R200 diffs or similar I think...

1977 250 270,000km (parts car)
1977 300D (ex 280) 500,000km

1981 240D 498,000

i was thinking of welding the diff mounts from a w124 onto the w123 subframe the bracing it to prevent excitement of the stress cracking type. i was reading about the manually locking setup with an ASD and that sounds good now if only there were a 4X4 w123 sedan.
