not even closer .... with 6mil u can get 250...
5.5 differ a lot in max output , not all 5.5 are same some give 40cc some 60cc and late models in 4 valve engines can reach 70/75 in a 22mil rack set pump...
sorry to say
BTW same for for 6mil they do differ a lot.

Why not use the stock OM606 injection pump? Seems like such a waste to do an engine swap but downgrade the injection pump so the new engine won't perform any better than the old engine.

A 606 with upgraded turbo and stock 6mm elements will do around 300 horsepower. On the stock turbo that number is closer to 220.

So if I understand what you are saying, going from the 606 electronic pump to the 603 mechanical pump with the 6mm elements with the stock turbo the HP. goes from 175 to 220 HP.?

Yes if your governor is set to deliver enough fuel, the stock turbo will get you over 200 horsepower using 20-22psi boost.

The 5.5 can max out at 60-65 cc, which is about what a stock 606 ip puts out with 6mm. 6mm can provide 90cc, sometimes more if other things are done

it is not about the cam´s, is the type of element that determines the max output.
if u have the element part number u can find at least 4 types in 6mil , 1305551 60/65 , 1305552 75/80cc , 1305553 95/100, 1305554 110/115 or over, the later 2 part numbers are the only ones wich dont have cut off slot , so basically if u can use your pump for 24mm rack they will continue to inject at least 130 140cc.
in the 7mil 01305520 , 75/80 has a cut off slot , 01305522 i dont know how much , never seen one outside the bosch cathalog.

a 603 IP has 5.5mil wich has numerous part numbers , even if u find one without cut off slot i seriously dought it will inject 90cc at 22mil rack.... Wink

Thanks for the information. Another question would be is how does injector size compared to element size affect HP.?

Injector size? This is IDI.. They are big enough for all the power you need. You can get maybe 5kW by swapping nozzles without pre-injection cut on needle for ones that have this feature.  Big Grin

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ex: 525tds 130kW, C250TD 160kW, E320CDI 200kW, ML400CDI 230kW, A6 R5TDI 130kW
Now: Q7 V8TDI 240kW, 320d 150kW, 335d 210kW

There is fast spray nozzles and slow, pintle nozles and the others.... i dont belive they worth 5kw, in IDI configuration, what can be seen as worth some kW in highly modded engines, is pulverization quality .... this is a lot more complicated than in DI´s.
use 316 nozzles and let it be.
