Wow, thanks, just what I needed! I was thinking of something like this the other day fiddling with the linkage as there are so many ball joints with 2mm slop in each I may as well scrap the stock system...
Noticed a 2nd ball joint on the lever the IP hooks to, so extended the linkage to meet it so I get less travel at the IP end. I also put a hose clip under the pedal in just the right place so the pedal doesn't return back up all the way, as the first inch or so of travel was the hardest to push. It helped a lot, trouble is that the clip gets in the way now and I can't get full down travel from the pedal so have to think another way, I can't fit a drill in to drill a bolt hole or anything...new cable time...

For some reason my phone isn't letting my computer access the camera folder, but I've been doing mostly rust repairs, pulled the rusty right front panel off and found even more rust behind
