Hello Ladies and Gentelman,

My name is Borys, just to let you know I'm not a mechanic, I'm only learning the basics from my father  I'm just kind of Car enthusiast

I'm not sure if this thread is in the right place but anywho
I'm in the middle of engine swap in my 1996 W124.
W124
OM605.911 with 5 speed manual gearbox

however I decided to change the engine in it due to high mileage and low power.
I have OM605.960 which I got for free 7 years ago. As far as I remember it came from 1999 W210 with automatic gearbox.
I hooked it up with pump from my old engine with 5.5mm elements. IP number PES 5 M 55 C 320 RS 201

New engine is in and already running, but there is a small problem. There is no boost at all. When I go for a test drive it only revs till 3000rpm. You can feel a bit off boost at the beginning then it's gone.

Now, that's just the intro to my question which is,

How should I actually connect the turbo dump-valve, do i connect it to the vacuum or some sort of controller.
I could've missed something, that's why I'm asking all of you who already done that sort of swaps, It's probably no biggie for you at this stage.

hy ,
i have the same car as u w124.126 ... but mine is 300hp rod bender beast...
the first probem u have is the pump u installed is set to 38cc max output wich is the stock setting for a 605.911. the 605.960 usually has a EDC pump set for max output 61/63cc and 6mm element.

So basically what i think u need is a IP in condition to feed the engine so that it can spool the turbo and a few more things

BTW the turbo imagining is a GT20 waste gated stock from the 605.96X u can just hook the vac suply to the actuator and the WG will be closed all times alowing boost to build , opening will be based in EGP as the early ones... that will give u no more than 1.2 bar. other thing u got to do to is deactivate the EGR system wich is probably something that u keep active and that may be the source of your problems by now.

theres nothing much u can do without having the pump in condition for that engine ,wich is something that i can help u with , PM if interested.

regards

You need to buy a pressure wastegate actuator something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Saab-9-3-9-5-2...Sw~bFWI-03

And cut off the vacuum actuator presently fitted and swap them over. Straightforward to fit using a hacksaw and files as the holes won't line up.

Note that 605 turbo runs about 19psi stock and that SAAB or any petrol actuator will usually run less boost pressure so you might want to fit a bleed valve, or just get an actuator from a diesel in the first place..

Installed:

OM606/722.6, big IC, W220 brakes.
Planned:
DIY manifold, compound, 722.6 controller, built IP.
[i]Less rust..

Hi Hario,

Thanks for reply, I'll have a look at this. Any problems that I might encounter with installation??

Hand filing the actuator mount is generally a bit of a bastard.

Edit: I suppose you would encounter a problem if the linkage pivot and pin aren't the same size lol.
