Hi,after boat loads of reading I've found my k26 wastegate to be stuck open I believe.

I can blow through the hose without any restiance leaving me to this conclusion.

Any ideas on how to get it unstuck?
I've backed the wastegate out 3 turns and the stud feels very loose also.

Haven't found a rebuild kit yet if it's going this direction.

Any help or suggestions are welcome Thank you.

Merc wastegate actuators usually operate on vacuum, not pressure. If you can suck like a whore then you might be able to find out Wink

Uhm - 617 & 603 KKK chargers have pressure actuated wastegates... They don't have a hose, though Big Grin

Arrrrgggg newbie that I am....for sure.
so why am would my boost be so high during acceleration, up to 20lbs.
Maybe I've been misleading myself, I thought 8-12 lbs boost was the limits when correctly working.

I have spent hours reading here but that by no means gives me knowledge of what I'm doing/trying.

Background,
om617 from 84 wagon put into a Land Rover Defender 110.

All I've added, by recommendation was a manual boost controller.

I've also added a functional snorkel.

Future add on will be a IC and a better IJ pump when one becomes available.

Have adjusted valves too

It runs very well up through the RPM'S but the boost level has my attention.

At 63mph it's at 10-12 at say 68-70 it's around 18-20.

Can't figure out how to post pictures would if I could.

And Thank you for your replys/time with this.

I'd like to learn but need proper directions

If you can easily blow  air THROUGH the wastegate it is broken if you ask me.
There is a diaphragm inside which actuates the wastegate valve and should not let air through.

If the wastegate is broken in that way  it is always completely closed and you´ve got as much intake pressure as possible.

As mentioned above the wastegate on a OM617A works with pressure, not vacuum.

The stock pressure is specified with 0,7 - 0,8bar = 10,2 - 11,6psi

With a stock pump everything above ~15psi is mostly   just hot air you don´t need

I'd like to post a picture haven't figured it out yet from phone.

It's the hose from the actuator that allows air to pass both ways.

Have found a shop that can replace the diphram and rebuild it. Put a WTB also out for one too.
