I got the tcu location and harness laid out for a w124 chassis. And the TPS setup for the om606 n/a engine that we will also use on the turbo engine when the swap gets done. For the TPS I am going to use the original bowden cable setup location and simply weld the bracket for the remote tps kit to the original bracket. And you can see the sensor is going to mount behind the battery. I had to move the harness leads a little to fit the car but not to much reworking. I have a branch going over to the cluster area for speedometer and rpm pickup from the tack. And then the branch to the shifter and transmission of course which I will wait to drop through when I get the new transmission in. Then I ran a lead up over the top for the TPS wiring and out throught the factory rubber grommet behind the battery. I also ran power and ground the same. And the metal floor pan fits right back over for basically a factory finish. This particular model had the space for the tcu so nothing had to be moved. I know other cars have other computers there. But since this is std.

Well got the TPS mount finished. And the transmission installed today. Cooler lines from a 722.6 equipped om606 bolted right on. But then ran into driveshaft issues. I was switching to the 100mm flange shaft and found that the w124 in diesel form has a different mount location for the center support bearing. Will have to get a custom shaft made up.

Found a C320 w203 front driveshaft section at the salvage yard that worked. It is a little to long but I could get it in there and there is free play.
Took the car out on Friday and did some quick tuning and am very happy with the setup. Just have to button up a few details like speedo and some extras and put the panels all back on. On to the next part of the project. AMG brakes and suspension work. I will take some final pictures and show everything all buttoned up. I did want to add that I found that a late style shift rod, I am not sure which model, with the torx bit on the adjuster piece at the shifter worked out great. I just heated it up and bent it to my needs in the vice and cut to length. So no welding was required. Just a propane torch and a hacksaw.

Looks great! Is this a 95 e300d?

Anyway are you still gonna have a custom propeller shaft made?

We will later on after we get the new engine in. It will get a v8 w124 subframe with the 210mm diff and limited slip. And yes it is a 95.

Is that as expensive as it sounds?

They are around 1500.00 plus install. But they are worth every penny. Best performance upgrade for driving. If you are making any power at all it is a must.

Very cool!

Possibly easier to make a bracket to mount the centre bearing to the original fixings rather than fabricate a prop??

Installed:

OM606/722.6, big IC, W220 brakes.
Planned:
DIY manifold, compound, 722.6 controller, built IP.
[i]Less rust..

What I have there will work just fine. But we need to upgrade the drive shaft anyways for the amount of power this thing is going to make or at least what we want it to make.
