Had a guy this friday that come home to me to buy an injector because it was stuck open or something and he had diesel in the oilpan. He said that #4 injector had the tip cut in half so it was leaking. On sunday he asked me if i wanted to buy the whole car because he said that the chain was broken and turned the camshafts into junk. I did get this feeling that this guy dont know so much about cars.

I bought the car and took it home. I found out that it was a smell of diesel in the oil. The chain was not broken, 2x prechambers had their tip burnt off and intake cam was broken into 6 pieces and exaust in 2 pieces. It looks more like the wheel of the intake cam advanced and make the intake valve to hit the pistons.

There was no debris present in the cylinders or marks from the tip of the precambers in the pistons or top.

Is this to blame for diesel leaking into oil trough pump or leaking injector?

nep, my guess is high RPM.
i had an exemple alike with a mitsubishi engine. the engine died for lack of compression. and it got there cause the diesel leak was so great that in the very close to the end much of what was inside the pan was diesel. so the engine did not suffered anything in the head assy. only the rings were destroyed, and of course the cylinders had some wear.
and think with me: that 605 is a turbo or it is a N/A converted? i guess it is converted! that IP is stock or was open to install 6mm elements? i guess was opened! and in the end someone tried to tweak the pump and messed up with the max RPM limitation , and the engine run away in cold and without charge. they were unable to stop it before shit happens.
thats my guess.
anyhow would be interesting to know the true story Wink

It can be like what you describe.

I have no idea what this owner did with it. He just said that chain snapped.

Its an N/A that was converted. At the looks of the pump it looks like some one have been messing with it. Change element maybe.

This is a picture of the pump and in the red circles some one have been using tools. Click on it for a bigger pic.

Maybe i should send it to Dieselmeken for some investigation. I do not wanna sell a pump second hand when it can destroy a engine from overrevving or bad fueling.

yep i saw the picture.
in the top screw at the alda/ada capsule, u have a screw that will tune the capsule ability to work, bolt out capsule does not work, bolt in capsule is limited from max to min operation, and consequently no role in the fueling. touching that screw afects nothing relevant.
the circle at the cap bolt , behind that there is the rack , along with elements holders, and finguers, if they increased the finguers position a lot of harm can be done, and pump will loose balance, and since u have one cylinder with damage in the precup, that might indicate some playing around.
the bolt on the delivery valve holders makes nothing. that is just the lock of the delivery valve holder.
in the back cover relies all the tricks, try to post a picture of what is inside and list what u think was done. maybe the max RPM srew is out of place.
but in any case u should sell this pump as a direct replacement , unless u try it before.
dieselmeken, is the man and since u´re in sweden why not!!!!

Im not totally unfamiliar with these pumps. I will open up the pump to check what type of element it is in there and open the back to see if i find something that is out of the ordinary.
