Hello everyone,
What 240mm clutches are readily available that will fit the 240mm '86-88 300E flywheel?
The 300E OEM replacement only seems to be offered by Sachs now, and it costs almost as much as buying an aftermarket clutch from Spec (which I plan to do in the future, but currently I just need one for a stock motor). There are also two versions of it available, one for the US 300E and the other for the EU model. The EU version is usually cheaper by almost 200$. Is there actually any difference between the two?

However, I am mainly curious if there any other, more friendly priced OEM replacement options that I could use. For example, is there a 240mm Sprinter clutch that will work? I looked them up, but there are quite a few Sprinter models available, so it is difficult to figure out which years and engines to look at.

Finally, are there any other 240mm OEM replacement single mass flywheel options besides the '86-88 300E? I would like to pick up an extra flywheel in the future, and as with the clutch for it, the 300E flywheel is getting difficult and expensive to find. Plus since diesels do not require the timing tabs on the back, I would prefer a flywheel without them.

Thank you for any tips.

We do maybe two single mass 240mm FW/clutch kit every week for Mercedes. We use the Sachs 765 PP and the clutch the customer wants.

Spec is just a blue painted Sachs PP Smile

Good to know. Spec was never a favourite clutch brand of mine, but they were the only aftermarket clutches I found for Mercedes.

What flywheels do you use, if I may ask?
Is the Sachs 765 pressure plate a direct fit to the 240mm M103 flywheel? I just looked it up and it seems to originally be for a BMW application.
What clutch discs do you normally use with them? SLK280/320/350? Custom?

If however those are business secrets that you do not wish to divulge, I understand. Smile
I actually ended up finding some LuK OEM replacement 300E clutch kits on Ebay for really cheap, so hopefully that will last me until I actually need a performance application.

Actually, the clutch kit that I ordered is not for a 300E, but for a '90-93 300SL with the M103.
I am hoping it will work out. According to the dimensions, it is also 240mm.

We use single mass flywheel from w201 4cyl petrol most of the time then we machine it for the 765 PP. It's NOT a direct fit to anything other then s38b36 (BMW).

We use a clutch that fits the gearbox the customer use but in my om604 I have a c250tdt clutch with is 240mm and fits my gearbox.

LuK will not hold the Diesel power.
