I had the battery in the back, raised the front and lowered the back to help with handling. But there a light car on the rear.
The newer model has more rear weight and handles far better.
The motor has to be considerably heavier than the lump that came out of the car. So the weight distribution is going to be significantly different no matter what.
The ke70 toyota corolla seemed to have issues also, judging from the few in car vids on youtube. It got really squirrely on corner exits under acceleration. Seemed not to have enough weight back there. Similar to what you describe. Difficult to drive quickly. Once it started fishtailing, it was game over.
