Hi, I'm changing a 300D auto gearbox for a 4-speed 240D slopeback box with 240D bitznpieces. The auto flexplate bolts are too long (about 10mm) for the manual flywheel - are the manual bolts torque-to-yield? If not, what torque do I need, and can I safely use standard high tensile bolts. Is it the auto thing of 30-40 lb-ft + 90-100 degrees? Will HT bolts stand up to this? If they are t-t-y, what part no do I need to chase for the necessaries?

I did the sMe thing. There is a VW bolt that works great for this application. They are stretch bolts but I have successfully used them with just loc-tite. I'll dig up the part number and post the link. ( and they are way cheaper than the MB bolts)

Here's a link to the ones we use. You need to get a star bit to drive them. I found one at AutoZone for cheap.
