I took some advice and decided to get a smaller turbo for my 240. Originally I was going to use a t3, a little big(same as the 617a but im sure the compressor's smaller on this one). so i bought a subaru turbo(td04l-13t-6) off e-bay, and not but a week later i got a td04hl-15g-7 at pull and save.

I have the flanges for both the turbo's. they both also flow almost the same amount of air, but the subaru exhaust turbine is much smaller and has a smaller exhaust housing(6 vs 7)

td04l-13t subaru
intake trim 53 1.6(40.7mm) inducer/2.205(56mm) exducer
exhaust 6cm housing 1.622(41.2mm)inducer, 1.843(46.8mm) exducer

td04hl-15g Volvo
intake trim 55, 1.625(41.28mm) inducer, 2.187(55.55mm)
exhuast 7cm housing 1.795(45.6mm)inducer, 2.047(52mm) exducer

This is maybe 130-150hp turbos if lucky. Really, really small... Will spool fast though. Turbine housings should be interchangeable.

This is maybe 130-150hp turbos if lucky. Really, really small... Will spool fast though. Turbine housings should be interchangeable.

FRAS note that he is turboing a 616 non turbo engine. 130HP is more than the stock 5.5mm pump will be able to support. And i wouldn't go much over that if i wanted durability from that 4 cylinder. 150 HP is double the stock power Exclamation

I'm looking for 100-110, and somewhere between 1500-1800 rpm spool if i can. I am going to use an intercooler, it wont be very big though. I don't want to choke it out at the top end either. It is for my 80 240 DD(well kinda mostly i use my gf tdi bug) so what i really want is better drive ability. One day I'd love to put in 10mm or Goran 8mm's elements and go compound, but i don't have the ability to do that right now.
