So I am in the process of swapping an OM606 into my 87 SDL. I am also swapping an 722.633 also but realized that I would have to get an inline motor bellhousing so I got one of those this morning. I swapped the bellhousings today and pulled the motor just now. I am planning on getting this running by tomorrow so quick responses would be great. It looks like I can swap my oil filter housing so I can keep my oil cooler lines. I see that I have to swap mounts. Should I swap oil pans or not? The OM606 pan looks bigger. I still have to swap my built pump so I will check back in a hour. Thanks for the help.

The Internet is your friend?
I am not swapping the pan, my 606 was low enough miles I didn't want to change the oil pump so I could reuse the 603 pan. I opted for a 500E bar.

Yeah I kept my 603 pan and also the filter housing. I modded the cruise to work and welded a bracket for the throttle. I didnt have to change the oil pump when I swapped my pan just for you information.

Were you able to find the motor nearby this is the fastest I have ever seen someone tackle one of these. Mine took about 2 weeks to be drivable, but not finished.

Motor I ordered online ahead of time. Trans for S500 I had. I had to get an in line bellhousing locally but found one and got one Saturday. I took the exhaust flange off my 603 motor and welded it to my om606 motor to fit my HX40/35. I still have to finish wiring my trans controller as I got the wrong shifter.

I just want to update my post so there is no misinformation out there.....After running my car for a bit I figured out you can not run the OM606 pickup with the OM603 pan. I ended up having low oil pressure and so I took off the little side wing and luckily I was able to swap back over to the OM603 pickup. Talk about needed tiny hands though. Low oil pressure solved!
