Howdy,

Odd question: How uncommon is the OM616 turbo kit (intake and exhaust manifold) ?

I used to see them every now and then on F L E A B A Y ... but no longer.

Project 2018: Really get the car finished -- Turbo OM617 greater than 175 MPH goal.

RED W123 - left Germany as 240D in 1982.  Full AMG body kit less rear apron, 2:65LSD, five speed Getrag 717.400, manual steering, read leather interior, manual brake conversion, electric water pump (EWP), and a bunch of other goodies ...

Most have probably been crushed due to scrap prices. When I worked auto salvage, I found one & stuffed the whole thing in a 6WD Samurai. Out of the 30+ 240Ds we had, it was the only one in 5 years. That was in the early 2000s.
Personally, the desigh aspects were horrible & you would do better cutting down OM617 parts or fabbing your own.
