That will be a nice car when it is doneSmile One week to fix all that rust? good luck.
Great idea to keep original color.
H1C should work fine, but what size is the exhaust?

the car is being repaired for 2 months, the guy should finish in next week. the biggest problem for my are motor mount. stage one is put motor to angine bay and start it with om603 ip. stage two is made custom exhaust manifold for holset and 7mm section and 3'' exhaust, mabey 4'' downpipe and 2 pipe 2,5'' we will see. in stage one i have om606 n/a clutch and flywheel because i want mount ERL
what clutch and flywheel did you use?? i wonder how strong is this gearbox and om606 n/a clutch an flywheel?

Thats al lot of work...Big Grin

I did a 603 in a w123 and I could use the original right enginemount. I used a 13mm thick plate to realign the mount. It was about 1cm left and up when looking at the pattern on the engine.
left engine mount was a diy.

The car is in the garage of my mechanic. We have putted engine in engine bay, we used w126 engine mount with spacers. They fit the best in my case Smile, but we need to cut gearbox mount, w124 gearbox didn't suite to this mount Sad. For now i'm waiting for painting whole car. What i should do with ip?? use old sections 5,5 or change it to 6mm?? And how strong is om606 n/a clutch an flywheel??

I think the elemts from the electric om606 pump are 6mm and can be fit into the 603 pump for a little more fuel, but not 100% sure as I mostly play with 616/617 engines Tongue

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

you can use the 124 mounts, and drill a new hole att both sides to bolt it..
but the best is to use the 124 att the left side of the engine, and make one att the right side self.
you can offcourse look at my 606 into 123, its a hole thread of how I did it Smile
done it three times now, two 606 and one 603 into three different 123's Smile

OM606 na clutch is 228 mm so i bought 240mm sprinter clutch and pressure plate didn't suite to my flywheel Sad, it is small difference with bolts. I think to buy sprinter flywheel dual mass. My 717.450 came from a 320TE W124 that I broke. I kept the DM flywheel, clutch and cylinder from the donor and all that fitted to the 606 with no problems. All I did was get a (supposedly) heavier duty friction plate from a place in England. The clutch is nice to operate, very soft in fact, and it's still working after three years careful driving. I don't do Grand Prix starts and the engine is standard with 6mm elements in a manual pump. BTW, it's pulling a 2.28:1 diff and it does this easily.

today my car came back to the house, a small video as rides.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fP0vJC5...e=youtu.be

my mechanic tried to put W126 diff but we have a problem with the axle shafts. We checked with the W126 and W116 but they are to long. Can I mount the LSD of the Mercedes w124 320 ??
The next week I will try to do to the car exhaust and the ic pipes

hi Erio, thank for your help. i don't thinks so that diff will handle such power. I would like to mount w126 diff, it is better for me, but i have problem with axles. in this month i 'd like to buy new mufflers to my car, i found 3'' magnaflow mufflers, 13219 and 13743 it would be enough to my daily car?? Now i fixing problem with rust bolts.

340mm disks will fit to 16'' alloy??

Smal update:

Car is running great, but om606 demage my clutch and turbo is leaking, so i wondering which turbo i should find. I would like to have no smoking setup with 7,5 mm pump.

Which turbo would be the best, my goal is about 400 hp:
-holset hx30 and holset hx35
-holset hx30 and holset hx40

another problem, which turbo should feed another turbo? small should feed bigger one or viceversa??

Regards,
Rafal

i would go with the HX30 and 40 they are better sized for compounds. however i would look at other turbos too. the Holset's are geared towards higher pressure ratios at a slightly lower flow in the bottom of the map. with compounds you're not too concerned with the maximum pressure ratio of each turbo but the mass flow and the sizing relative to each other. as for the plumbing the exhaust is routed into the small turbo then from the outlet of that into the big one. you will need two waste gates too. one going from before the small turbo into the pipe feeding the big turbo then one from the pipe feeding the big turbo to your down pipe. the intake is plumbed similarly the big turbo draws air from the air filter then compresses it and feeds it into the small turbo. if you can fit two intercoolers one between the turbos and one after ( technically thats one intercooler and one aftercooler) that improves the performance. but the space in the bay is limited so i would probably just run one after the small turbo.

Ok, thx for your advice. I have found holset hy40u. It would be enought for this power? This turbo was used in Iveco Stralis Cursor 8. And another question in which car i can find hx30 super? I'm guessing it would be the best turbo for me. My injection pump would be set to 120cc.

the HY40U is a HX40 with a smaller hot side. in the throat feeding into the turbine there should be a number stamped or cast what is it? that turbo will probably work but it might be a bit small for compounding at least if you want to run smoke free at WOT. the HX30 super is kinda rare i haven't heard of people pulling them off of anything. i would message Alcaid about getting one he sells factory new Holsets.

now for the fun math. at 120cc/1000 it works out to 0.102g per injection event. to run smoke free and low EGT this means you would need 1.836g of air in the cylinder in order to burn the fuel cleanly at an AFR of 18:1. an om 606 has 499.3 cc per cylinder with air being 1.29mg per cc at STP this works out to 0.64414g of air in the cylinder with no boost. this means you need a density ratio of 2.85:1 in order to supply the air. this is of course assuming 100% VE and a variety of other variable im not factoring. to get the 2.85 density ratio assuming decent intercooling of around 80% you need 31.5PSIG boost however there is the restriction of the head, intercooler, plumbing, and air filter to work around so lets just say 35 ish psi (or 2.4 bar) should do ok. the next issue is the turbo sizing im not entirely sure of the flow capabilities of the HX/HY40 however the above calculation requires ~60lb/minute at 6000 rpm running 2.4 bar while the 40 could do this i suspect not at the low pressure ratio it would see in compounds. this is similar to the size im currently looking into at least in regards to mass flow vs pressure ratio requirements. i might look into a Borg Warner S300SX-E series for your LP turbo it handles more air at a lower PR than most Holsets can at that same PR. also remember with compounds its quite easy to simply increase the boost to feed more air. at least if you size the turbos with a bit of head room. for example with both turbos running a PR of 2.0 it multiplies the stages so you get a PR of 4.0 or 44lbs of boost. the issue is the mass flow you're trying to pull a lot of air through the LP turbo at low pressure most turbos don't like that so you have to size carefully.

anyways feel free to cross check my calculations. im not as familiar with the 60X engines and by no means assume i didn't make any mistakes. good luck on your build it cool to see a good w123 getting a new heart and more pep.
