722.4 series just isn't advisable, it is probably the weekest box they made, it's not just the internals that are weak, it's the casing, it doesn't take much to blow one up, the om603 had a 722.358 behind it, if you want a fully hydraulic auto box that can handle a bit of power you're better off with a 722.3, or you can go for a 722.6 with a controller.

722.6 i had in my car last year, it is not my thinking of a w124 Wink
i love the fully hydraulic managed tranny
but i don't want the long first gear of the 722.3

now im gonna rebuild the 722.4 with new parts

If you are willing to take them apart, why would you be stuck with a tall first gear in the 722.3? I am sure there were versions of it with a shorter first gear.

hi
i drive much with trailer, and so it is easier to shunt the trailer in small gaps and such things, with a short first gear,
in the .3 series there are all trannys with an ca 3,85 ratio
this is too long in my opinion, and : i dont want to have it Wink
