Splurged at harborfreight on a aluminum polish kit for $19. Well worth it, 1.5hrs later with a drill and I had 4 polished rims. I had spent alot more time previously on one wheel just trying to wet sand it. It wasn't amazing, I could see my features on my face but not details, so not quite mirror polish.
